Santa Barbara Island to Catalina

I don’t know how the wind gods know where I am but the wind died as soon as I was about 4 or 5 miles from the island. The plus side was that this gave me a great opportunity to try fly my new spinnaker. So the trip to Catalina was mostly a mellow spinnaker run. (in the fog, of course!!)

When I got close to Catalina, the island finally appeared through the fog. The wind picked up so it was time to change sails again.

Finally I saw my destination the mighty port of Avalon.

Ok it’s not really mighty, it’s more touristy, but it will be my comfy home for the next little bit.

But first a well deserved cocktail!!

Looks like a great spot Marc. How long do you plan on staying there and where to next?

One more question Marc. What is that round Greek looking building in your pictures?
